Why a skipper?
FREE TIME
Hiring a skipper provides you with time to relax and enjoy your friend’s & family’s company instead of always working on the boat and being at the helm.
SKILLED CAPTAIN
Safety is the most important thing to consider when planning the perfect vacation. Get that thing checked off your list and leave the responsibility of maneuvering the boat in the everchanging sea conditions to a trained professional.
LOCAL GUIDE & PROBLEM SOLVER
The captain is familiar with your charter destination. He will know the best places to go based on your preferences. Besides, having a native speaker on board is always a great benefit when dealing with unpredicted problems in a foreign country.
PATIENT MENTOR
Learn if you want, at your own pace. If you want to take the helm or help with the ropes your skipper can be a friendly instructor.
ENJOYABLE COMPANY
Skipper is trained to make sure you have a good time on your vacation. He can be there to liven up the atmosphere onboard or give you space & privacy when you need it.
Why croatia?
NATURAL & CULTURAL BEAUTIES
1244 islands, islets, stacks, and reefs.
3 national parks, 2 nature parks, and 1 geopark.
10 UNESCO sites and another 15 on the UNESCO tentative list.
PERSONAL SAFETY
The crime rate in Croatia is very low and you can safely walk the streets at night. The fact that most local boaters do not lock their boats when in ports or marinas certainly supports the claim.
HEALTH SAFETY
Croatian healthcare ranks high on the world list, water is drinkable, and food is tasty.
Enjoy your stay!
PARTY COAST
The Croatian coast is full of amazing party hubs, such as Hvar, Split, Rab, Pag, and Brač.
In addition to that Croatia is home to ULTRA Europe Electronic Music Festival.
SCHENGEN VISA WAIVER
If you plan on staying in Europe for more than 90 days you will need a visa. If you visit Croatia which is part of the European Union but not part of the Schengen Zone, you will get another 90 days in the rest of Europe visa-free.
Why sailing?
TAME SEA
Most commonly there are 10-25 knots of thermal winds which are ideal for sailing. Air and sea temperatures vary from 24 – 26 degrees Celsius. Tide differences are less than 1m and sea currents are mild.
ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
Whether you are a party animal, an adventure type, or a family person you can find a lot of great stuff to do both onboard and onshore.
The distances between the Croatian islands are small, 10 – 20 NM, so you can choose shorter or longer daily sailing distances. You can spend the night in marinas, ports, or bays. You decide what kind of rhythm works best for you.
VARIETY OF BOATS
Find your ideal boat with ease. The boat charter fleet in Croatia holds 40% of the world’s charter fleet.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
By using any of the GRIZLI services You automatically agree to the terms and conditions.
- To make your holiday enjoyable and pleasurable the best thing to rely on is a good organization. Even though the skipper will be doing most of the planning it is advised to do some research on Your own or contact a skipper a few days before your arrival to discuss a route. This is very important during high season when the reservation for better ports and restaurants is needed. That way You will be in a better position to enjoy Your trip because You will have the most important things planned out.
- The tendency to see as many places as you possibly can is perfectly normal. However, it can prove to be counterproductive. In some cases, it can lead to very long trips between the destinations which will, in turn, mean less time for swimming, eating, activities, and relaxing After all, the day lasts only 24 hours and there are only so many places a person can visit in one day. Having that in mind try to stick to the recommended daily distance of 20-30NM per day.
- To ensure the safety of his crew a good skipper will always be aware of the weather forecast. Please remember that he has to prioritize that above all other things. If the skipper suggests changing the route or staying docked for a day longer/different place than planned, due to bad weather or low provisions onboard please comply respectfully. The decision skipper had to make was not an easy one and although it may seem difficult to understand at first, it is truly in your best interest.
- The price for hiring a skipper can vary from 170€ to 200€ due to boat size. Bigger boats are harder to maneuver and maintain which means more work and responsibility.
For smaller boats (Monohulls <50ft. / Catamarans <45ft.) the price is 170€/day. For bigger boats (Monohulls >50ft. / Catamarans >45ft.) the price is 200€/day. - When you hire a skipper please remember that you have to provide food and a place to sleep. Skipper spends most of the time on board working on the boat and always has plenty to do. This is why proper food and rest are required so he can continue to do his job diligently. Be advised that 30€ per meal is going to cover the food expenses if the guests/hostess are not doing any cooking on board that day.
- Communication is the key to a healthy relationship. After you have put some thought into thinking about what kind of vacation you want do not be hesitant to share this with Your skipper. Also, feel free to speak to him about anything else. For example, if you want your privacy, the skipper does not have to eat with the guests. You can go to restaurants together but he can have a separate table or go to a different restaurant.
